As part of the 28th Annual Energy Storage Association Conference & Expo, CALMAC – a Trane Company – is pleased to host a site tour at the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse in Boston, MA.  The site tour of the Courthouse will take place on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018. Departure time will be at 10:30 a.m. from the Hynes Convention Center, with a return time of 1:30 p.m.

Hidden in the basement of the Moakley Courthouse in the Boston Innovation Center there is a simple, low-cost cool thermal energy storage resource very few people know about— but should. This 23-year old behind-the-meter system uses a standard chiller paired with cool thermal energy storage tanks, similar to a battery. The system is able to reduce peak demand by over 1 MW and stores 7,800 kWh of energy in the form of ice each night for later use.

On this tour participants will have a chance to network and hear from industry experts regarding this specific application, as well as learn how thermal energy storage is being implemented worldwide to maximize indoor comfort, help reduce strain on the grid and boost the utilization of renewable resources.

While the tour is available for all registered attendees of the 28th Annual Energy Storage Association Conference & Expo, space is limited and separate registration is required.  Transportation to and from the site tour will be arranged by ESA, with details to be sent to registrants.
