As part of the 28th Annual Energy Storage Association Conference & Expo, Dynapower and Russelectric are pleased to host a site tour at the Russelectric Innovation Center (RIC) in Hingham, MA. The tour will take place on Wednesday, April 18th, 2018, departing the Hynes Convention Center at 10:00 a.m., returning at 2:00 p.m

The RIC microgrid features Dynapower’s fully-integrated behind-the-meter 250 kW (BTM-250) energy storage system coupled with 736 roof-mounted photovoltaic (PV) panels at 340 W each, totaling 250 KW DC / 200 kW AC, along with a 975 kW diesel generator. The system is controlled by the Russelectric Distributed Energy Controller (RDECTM) providing the physical and SCADA controls to monitor and operate the combined system. The system can decouple the microgrid from the facility and operate in a test mode with real simulated active energy demands by switching to two 100 kW step-loaded resistive banks. The on-site microgrid can also be configured for operation in multiple test modes to demonstrate equipment and system performance.”

During the tour, participants will:

  • Experience a complete micogrid system, including RDECTM, switchgear, arc-resistant switchgear, and combined full-wall screens for real-time control and analytical data visualization on all system components and performance;
  • Examine how the system operates under source outages by conducting transfer failures and managing different combinations of PV, energy storage systems, diesel generators, and demand control; and
  • Participate in a demonstration of the Electrical Power Management System (EPMS), which manages capacity and visualizes how power is distributed through the facility.

The BTM-250 features Dynapower’s patented Dynamic TransferTMTechnology, which enables grid resilience by allowing the system to transition seamlessly from grid-tied mode to battery back-up power when a grid disturbance is detected. The BTM-250, a fully-integrated battery energy storage system, couples Dynapower’s UL-1741 SA listed MPS-250 kW bi-directional inverter with Samsung E2 batteries in two, four and six-hour configurations.

While the tour is available for all registered attendees of the 28th Annual Energy Storage Association Conference & Expo, space is limited and separate registration is required.  Transportation to and from the RIC site tour will be arranged by ESA, with details to be sent to registrants.
