In December 2017, Massachusetts announced awards totaling $20 million to support 26 energy storage demonstration projects through the Advancing Commonwealth Energy Storage (ACES) program and the state is taking other steps to accelerate energy storage adpotion. At the regional level, more than 400 MW of grid-scale energy storage proposals are under study by ISO New England to connect to the grid, and at the federal level, recent market-rule changes will expand opportunities for fast-responding energy storage resources to participate in energy and reserve markets.
