Dan Sowder, PE has led the design and deployment of over a dozen utility-scale energy storage systems over the course of his 17-year career. As Doosan GridTech’s Vice President of Power Systems Integration, he is bringing forward three of the most advanced ESS projects in the utility sector – SnoPUD’s pilot ESS fleet program, Austin Energy’s SHINES project, and LADWP’s first BESS. Previously, at Duke Energy, he led the design and development of energy storage, grid technology and business model initiatives to enhance the value of renewable energy on the grid. Dan holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the US Naval Academy and a master’s degree in engineering management from Old Dominion University.
