Jeff Dennis

As Managing Director and General Counsel at Advanced Energy Economy, Jeff manages a portfolio of policy initiatives to drive the growth of the advanced energy industry as well as providing legal advice and counsel on regulatory matters and litigation across the organization’s programs. In particular, he develops strategies to increase wholesale electricity market access for advanced energy technologies including wind, solar, distributed generation, demand response, and energy efficiency. Prior to AEE, Jeff held various positions over the course of ten years working for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, including Director of the Division of Policy Development from 2013 to 2015, where he led the agency's policy research efforts and the development of new and revised regulations.

In his spare time, Jeff serves on the Executive Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources, and is a member of the Editorial Board for the Energy Law Journal. He has written extensively on a wide variety of topics in energy and environmental law and policy, and is frequent speaker and lecturer at industry events and academic institutions.

Jeff graduated from the University of New Mexico School of Law with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law (summa cum laude), and received his BA (summa cum laude) from Marymount University in Arlington, VA.
