Richard Baxter is President of Mustang Prairie Energy where he bridges the financial and technical sides of the energy storage industry for investors, lenders, project developers, and manufacturers.

Richard has been active in the energy storage industry for nearly two decades, holding positions across the value chain, including Director of Product Strategy for Premium Power, an investment banker and equity analyst with Ardour Capital, strategy consultant for Charles River Associates, and an economist with Standard & Poor’s DRI. Richard authored a DOE-sponsored study series on Energy Storage Financing, including “Energy Storage Financing: A Roadmap for Accelerating Market Growth” [SAND2016-8109], and “Energy Storage Financing: Performance Impacts on Project Financing” SAND2018-10110. He provides the pricing survey for the US. DOE’s Energy Storage Handbook, and through Enovation Partners, provided the cost survey and pricing methodology for the Lazard Levelized Cost of Storage (LCOS) Survey 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0. He is also the author of the book, “Energy Storage: A Nontechnical Guide”. He is currently the Executive Director of the Advancing Contracting in Energy Storage (ACES) Working Group. Furthermore, Richard currently serves on the Board of Directors for NovoCarbon (TSX-V: GLK), a publicly traded specialty materials firm.

Richard holds a Bachelors of Science in Materials Engineering from Virginia Tech, and earned his Masters of Science in Energy Policy from the University of Pennsylvania.
