Sarah Orban Salati

Sarah Orban Salati serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for the New York Power Authority (NYPA).  As Chief Commercial Officer, Sarah is responsible for managing the wholesale and retail commercial operations at NYPA including oversight of $2 billion in annual revenues from NYPA’s power generating assets through wholesale energy trading and contracting.  She also leads NYPA’s Project and Business Development team which is looking to deploy bulk level storage in New York State, NYPA’s Customer Business Development teams which are working statewide with to deploy customer sited stand-alone and renewable paired energy storage systems, as well as NYPA’s Market Issues Group which is an active stakeholder in the NYISO’s energy storage stakeholder process.  Sarah joined NYPA in August 2018. 

Sarah came to NYPA from the AES Corporation where she most recently held the position of Managing Director for New Energy Solutions and where she had worked since 2005. In that role, Sarah worked for the company’s CTO who was a founding member of AES’ energy storage business which resulted in Fluence, a JV with Siemens formed in 2018.  During her tenure at AES, Sarah held a range of strategic, commercial and operational roles including expatriate assignments in London, England and Budapest, Hungary where she led teams responsible for commercial contracting and the execution of transactions and other corporate initiatives across Europe, CIS, Africa, Middle East and Asia.
